ABSTRACT BODY: Abstract: The mission of the ACS Division of Small Chemical Businesses is to aid in the formation, development and growth of small chemical businesses. We do this by continuously providing relevant programming and networking events at ACS national, regional and often local section meetings, for attendees who currently own and operate their own small chemical businesses, those who are considering entrepreneurship and those employed by a small chemical business. Our reach extends beyond our membership via our social media channels which include: LinkedIn,Facebook and Twitter. With a liasion from the ACS Younger Chemists Committee and cooperative efforts with the ACS Undergraduate Program Office, SCHB is in a unique position to comment on the employment situation for technicians, preparedness of graduates for jobs offered by industry, and the causes of young graduate and mid-career chemical professional unemployment. This presentation will illustrate our efforts to meet the challenges of employment in the chemical sciences sector.
