4/2/11: Here is the official video that was taped on 3/28/11 at ACS Anaheim. Please view and share and let everyone know that it is the International Year of Chemistry! Not only can chemists dance but so can the Periodic Table of the Elements...
We REALLY need your help and participation at the Spring National Meeting: ACS Anaheim. This is a great opportunity to use social media to generate awareness and fun for IYC!
Use the official show hashtag on Twitter: #acsanaheim, the Chemistry Ambassadors hashtag: #chem_amb and the IYC hashtag: #IYC2011
We have the chemistry rap song and dance ready to perform at the Anaheim ACS meeting, March 27/28, in celebration of the International Year of Chemistry. To see a preview clip of how it sounds and looks, watch some students and staff stepping through it at:
So, our ask of you?
1. Watch the clip and share it with as many people as possible. Tell them a video of the Anaheim meeting dancers will replace it shortly after 8 pm PST on March 28. Even if your friends are not going to Anaheim, they will have a new awareness for IYC! They can also record themselves dancing the chemistry dance and if they send us the video, we will try to post it.
2. Come to the rehearsal and to the real thing. Even if you don’t dance, we can use help passing out the element bibs (if you are going to dance, you can send me your request for a favorite element and we’ll reserve it for you, first come first served J). We also need help corralling people into the dance space.
3. Tell all your friends who are going to Anaheim to come to the dance!
4. Feel free to share the article below with your division or LS or anyone else. It will appear In ACS Matters tomorrow.
“Chemistry -- the central science, building blocks of life
Engineering new solutions, rid the world of its strife
We’re part of the solution, we ain’t no precipitate,
This is the chemistry dance, now get up and participate.”
Practice for the IYC Chemistry Show dance will be held Sunday, March 27th, 5:00 pm, Hall B, Anaheim Convention Center!
Learn a wonderful line dance, then join your colleagues on Monday, March 28 at 7:30 pm for a Tweet-Up in Hall B again, for the real deal.
This is your year to celebrate chemists! Bring your spirit and your moves. Wear your lab coat and goggles, dress up as an element or famous chemist. Come and have fun! Full demo video in next week’s e-newsletter.
